Too hot for sports!

Sundress (worked on size 8 needles)

            Skirt:  Row 1 – knit

                        Row 2 – knit 2, *yarn over, knit 2 together, repeat from * across

                        Row 3-5 – knit

Row 6: *knit 2 together three times, yarn over knit one 3 times repeat from * last 8 stitches, ending knit 2 together twice, yarn over, knit 1, yarn over, knit 1, knit 2

Repeat these six rows once more for a mini dress and twice more for a maxi dress.


Cut a long tail and thread it through the live stitches to take them off the needle.

Gather the skirt until it measures approximately 7 ½ to 8 inches across

Weave in the top end


                        Cast on 14 stitches

                        Work in stockinette stitch for 6 rows

                        Row 7: Knit 2 together, knit 10, knit 2 together

                        Row 8: Purl 2 together, purl 8, purl 2 together

                        Row 9: Knit 2 together, knit 6, knit 2 together

                        Row 10: Purl

                        Row 11: Bind off

Chain crochet across the top (narrower) part of the piece, leaving longish tails to serve as ties



                        Cast on 22 stitches

Work 8 rows stockinette stitch, starting with a knit row

Row 9:  knit 2 together 3 times, knit 3, yarn over, knit two together, yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 3, knit two together 3 times

Row 10: Purl 1, purl 2 together, purl 2 together, purl to last 5 stitches, purl 2 together, purl 2 together, purl 1

Row 11: Bind off

            Finishing: Sew the skirt together. Sew the front (underside) onto the skirt by lining up the 7th stitch with the skirt’s seam and working around.

Sew the back onto the skirt as well. Weave in all ends, except the ones on the crocheted part of the front. Thread these ends through the yarn over “holes” in the back and tie a bow.
