Potholders and Pumpkin Pie

Here’s a simple pattern for potholders to help all the Thanksgiving bakers out there. (They make great Christmas gifts too!) Just 6 easy steps:

Materials: any worsted weigh yarn, preferably cotton, and size 9 short needles

1. Using 2 strands held together, cast on 27 stitches.

2. Row 1: knit 3, purl 1, * knit 4, purl 1, Repeat from * across, ending knit 3

3. Row 2: Knit

4. Repeat these 2 rows until the potholder measures one inch shorter than it is wide (about 7 1/2 inches by 6 1/2 inches usually).

5. Bind off and crochet loop.

6. Put it to use and bake a pie!
